University Footprint Calculator now available!

The wait is over: after two years of hard work, the EUSTEPs project delivered the tool that any Higher Education Institution in the world can use to measure their environmental impact, guide their efforts towards sustainability, and track progress. Launched on April 1st, the University Footprint Calculator is available for free on-line use. All the practical details, including how it works and how to access it, are here.

EUSTEPs spreads the word to more than 50 countries

Some 380 higher education professionals from 52 countries signed up for the EUSTEPs 3rd Multiplier Event which took place both in person in Lisbon and online on April 1st. The highlight of the highly interactive event was the launch of the University Footprint Calculator, during which the new tool was introduced to participants through an in-depth guided tour. Many questions were asked about the conversion factors used in the Calculator; about how the ecological impacts, both direct and indirect, of various university activities are being tracked; and about using the Calculator from a location outside of non-EU countries. In case you missed it or want to review some its segments, you may watch the recording of the event here.

EUSTEPs Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) coming soon!

From May 16 to July 3, “Sustainability and Ecological Footprint: From Theory to Practice” will take participants on a journey to discover the concepts of sustainability and Ecological Footprint, as well as the main aspects of sustainability in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). Examples and experiences from real life will help participants understand global sustainability challenges and ways to address them. The MOOC is free and open to anyone interested in familiarizing themselves with these topics for professional, academic, or personal reasons, not only in the HEI community (students, professors and educators, administrative staff), but also among the general public. So please help spread the word! For more information and to sign up to participate in the first tutored session of this MOOC, click here.
